Trying something new, especially when it comes to your health and/or your kiddo(s) can be daunting. But with a bit of prep I hope to ease your nerves and help ensure that you feel as comfortable and excited about your upcoming appointment as possible.
Here’s what you can expect.
Intake Forms
Please take the time to complete your intake forms, through your online scheduling account, at least 24 hours prior to your first visit. This will give me the opportunity to review them and best utilize our time together.
How should I dress?
Wear cozy socks (if it’s cold out) or embrace the barefoot life. We often have little ones crawling around on the ground and strive to keep ice, snow, mud and toxins out of our space, so when you arrive at Be Well Barn we ask that you remove your shoes and leave them just inside the door.
On your first visit we may also need direct access to your back for any CLA INSiGHT scans; you can wear a loose shirt or we can provide you with a gown to wear if necessary at that time.
Other than that, please feel free to wear whatever you’re most comfortable in to your appointments.
Where should I go?
We are currently located near the airport in Gypsum, CO. You will receive specific directions to our practice, via email, prior to your first visit. If you have any questions or trouble finding us, please don’t hesitate to call or text us at 720-515-6338.
When you arrive
Upon arrival at our practice please take off your shoes, make yourself at home, and feel free to head back to our herbal tea bar to make yourself a cup of tea using our insta-hot filtered water spigot located just left of the faucet in our kitchenette.
We also offer a selection of wellness, prenatal, birth, breastfeeding, parenting, and self care books for you to enjoy in our lending library (directly across from our tea bar). As well as a selection of ‘Pathways to Family Wellness’ magazines which are our gift to you; please feel free to take them home to enjoy and/or pass along to a friend.
Your visit will take place with Dr. Sara O’Connell who is the owner and heart behind Be Well Barn. You can learn more about Dr. Sara here.
Your first visit is our chance to get to know each other, listen to your concerns, answer any questions and understand your specific health and family goals.
Your visit will include with a thorough history and examination as well as adjustment and/or appropriate initial care.
To remove guesswork, best address root cause, and better understand how your (or your kiddo’s) unique body is adapting to stress, we often perform non-invasive nervous system scans to further assess function using CLA INSiGHT technology.
Dr. Sara is known for being gentle and intuitive while also firmly believing in bio-individuality and freedom.
Once she has assessed your nervous system and deemed that no further tests or imaging are necessary she’ll use a tonal analysis through MC2 technique to locate any nerve interference and deliver a gentle, safe and effective adjustment.
Given your specific goals, presentation and exam findings, she’ll provide you with her best recommendation for care moving forward.
To best serve you, Dr. Sara may use a variety of adjusting techniques and holistic modalities throughout your care at Be Well Barn.
Some of the chiropractic techniques she most commonly utilizes include MC2, Webster, Diversified, Thompson, and Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT). Sometimes she uses her hands for adjustments, and sometimes she uses an instrument. For infants there’s never any fast movements, twisting, cracking, popping or instruments.
Additionally, Dr. Sara often incorporates brain-based laser therapy, the Schaefer Protocol, breastfeeding support, birth prep, and additional holistic modalities to further activate healing, restore balance, and improve your overall function.
