Trying something new, especially when it comes to your health and/or your kiddo(s) can be daunting. But with a bit of prep I hope to ease your nerves and help ensure that you feel as comfortable and excited about your upcoming time with us as possible.
Here’s what you can expect.
Intake Forms
Please take the time to complete your intake forms, through your online scheduling account, at least 24 hours prior to your first visit. This will give me the opportunity to review them and best utilize our time together.
How should I dress?
Wear cozy socks or embrace the barefoot life. We often have little ones crawling around on the ground and strive to keep ice, snow, mud and toxins out of our space, so when you arrive at Be Well Barn we ask that you remove your shoes and leave them just inside the door.
On your first visit you will also likely need to remove the top half of your clothing for your CLA INSiGHT scans; we will provide you with a gown to wear if necessary at that time.
Other than that, please feel free to wear whatever you’re most comfortable in to your appointments.
Where should I go?
We are located near the airport in Gypsum, CO. You will receive specific directions to our practice, via email, prior to your first visit. If you have any questions or trouble finding us, please don’t hesitate to text us at 720-515-6338.
When you arrive
Upon arrival at our practice please take off your shoes, make yourself at home, and feel free to head back to our tea bar to pour yourself a cup of herbal tea.
We also offer a selection of wellness, prenatal, birth, parenting, and self care books for you to enjoy in our lending library (across from our tea bar). As well as a selection of ‘Pathways to Family Wellness’ magazines which are our gift to you; please feel free to take them home to enjoy and/or pass along to a friend.
Your visit will take place with Dr. Sara O’Connell who is the owner and heart behind Be Well Barn. You can learn more about Dr. Sara here.
Your first visit is our chance to get to know each other, listen to your concerns, answer any questions and understand your specific health and family goals.
Your visit will begin with a thorough history and examination. Our objective during this visit is to ask and answer 2 big questions: 1) How are you (or your kiddo) processing the world? 2) Are there any indicators of alterations or inefficiencies in the way your/his/her brain is receiving, processing, and sending information?
To further remove any guesswork and best address root cause, we also often perform nervous system scans to further assess function on your first visit using CLA INSiGHT technology.
Dr. Sara is known for being gentle and intuitive while also firmly believing in bio-individuality.
Once she has assessed your nervous system and deemed that no further tests or imaging are necessary she’ll use a tonal analysis through MC2 technique to locate any nerve interference and deliver your first gentle, safe and effective adjustment.
Given your specific goals, we’ll build your care plan and review the results from your exam and scans together during your second visit.
To best serve you, Dr. Sara may use a variety of adjusting techniques and holistic modalities throughout your care at Be Well Barn.
Some of the techniques she most commonly utilizes include MC2, Webster, Diversified, Thompson, and Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT). Sometimes she uses her hands for adjustments, and sometimes she uses an instrument. For infants, however, there’s never any fast movements, twisting, cracking, popping or instruments.
Additionally, Dr. Sara often incorporates brain-based laser therapy, the Schaefer Protocol, breastfeeding support, labor prep, and additional holistic modalities to further activate healing, restore balance, and improve your overall function.
How long is the first visit?
Your first visit will take about 45 minutes.
What kind of payment do you accept?
Payment is due prior to or at the time of service. All practice members are required to keep a credit card on file. We accept cash, credit cards, and debit cards (including HSA and FSA). We DO NOT accept insurance or provide diagnostic codes or superbills for the purpose of insurance reimbursement. However, we are happy to provide you with an itemized receipt for your records.
What if I need to reschedule?
Your appointment time is reserved just for you and/or your family. Please be courteous and provide notice of at least 24 hours to cancel or reschedule appointments. This helps to ensure that we can run an efficient and effective practice and meet the needs of those who are waiting to get an appointment. Cancellations made prior to 24 hours of your appointment will not be charged. Cancellations or rescheduled appointments made less than 24 hours of your appointment and no shows will be charged the FULL amount of the service booked using the payment information on file.
